EXMOUTH PAST & PRESENT
Exmouth has a rich history going back many centuries, from the ‘recent’ 16th century voyages of Sir Walter Raleigh who sailed from Exmouth Harbour – to the town establishing itself as a destination for ‘high class tourism’ during the 18th and 19th century and being regarded as the oldest holiday resort in Devon and “the Bath of the West”.
GETTING HERE
BY CAR: From the M5, Junction 30, take the A376 towards Exmouth on the Exeter Road, until you find yourself travelling parallel with the railway line, finishing at the bus and rail station on Marine Way.
At the small roundabout, (Domino’s Pizza opposite) take the second exit into Imperial Road for just 60-yards to another small roundabout and take the first exit to continue on Imperial Road and then take the fourth turning on your left into St Andrews Road.
After approximately 150-yards you will pass Prezzo’s on your left and the Manor Gardens on your right. Immediately ahead of you, you will see a small roundabout with a fountain. The first two exits are no entry roads and you need to take the fourth (last) exit.
However, as you enter the route of the fourth exit, you need to take an immediate left turn into The Beacon, where you will pass the Manor Hotel and the Royal Beacon Hotel on your left and you will then find yourself in Louisa Terrace and find that the Ashton Court Hotel is just a little ways on. Simples!
ABOUT ASHTON COURT HOTEL
Once a pair of Georgian houses for the gentry, the spectacular location of the Ashton Court Hotel offers breathtaking panoramic views of the beach, the estuary and the south-facing coastline from both the hotel and its extensive Coronation Gardens.
Developed into a hotel some 70+ years ago, this Grade II listed building exudes timeless style, character and charm and is located just a virtual ‘stonesthrow’ away from the beach.
We only purchased the hotel in September 2022, but we have already begun a policy of constant improvements, with a longterm aim of of providing the perfect balance between a fantastic stay and surprising affordability.
ROOMS & RESTAURANT
The Ashton Court Hotel is a traditional building which means the rooms have their own individual character, with 45-rooms offering a mixture of single, twin and double rooms, with either a sea or rear facing and even three family rooms that have both a double bed and a single bed. And whilst all rooms are ensuite, there is a variety of shower only, bath only and shower/bath, so if you have any specific needs/requirements, please be sure to discuss this at the time of booking.
There is a lift to all floors and all rooms are equipped with free high-speed fibre wifi, television and complimentary beverage facilities. There is extensive cctv coverage throughout the hotel.
A choice of either a Continental Breakfast or a full English Breakfast (fully inclusive) is served in the ‘Downstairs Restaurant’ from 7:30am until 9:30am daily.
BAR & GARDENS
The huge bow-shaped lounge/bar offers the most incredible coastal views whatever the weather, but when the weather is being kind, you can enjoy a relaxing drink or delicious snack on our Estuary Terrace, the Coronation Gardens, or the lovely and secluded Walnut Gardens and patio to the rear.
We have a refreshing selection of soft drinks, beer, cider, wines and spirits, with a specially selected choice of Whiskies and really affordable quality Champagne – should you wish to spoil yourself or someone special.
FUNCTIONS
Weddings, Christenings, birthdays, wakes, etc; we are proud to offer a one-stop venue, be it a budget buffet, or a bespoke dinner, look no further. We are able to offer excellent rates and facilities for absolutely all of your needs.
ACCESSIBILITY
Unfortunately the hotel can be challenging for those that have mobility issues and whilst the lift goes to all floors and the majority of internal areas are without internal steps, (there are steps down from the Lounge to the Bar) the Grade II listing prevents us from installing and/or altering the frontage to make access less of an issue.
PARKING
Parking can often be challenging in any seaside resort, and whilst there is FOC street-parking along the entire road in front of the hotel, we are blessed with more than a dozen spaces right on site and mostly covered by cctv. Reservation is not possible.
Rooms FROM
£70/night
The hotel has 45 ensuite bedrooms.
The majority with sea views.
TESTIMONIALS
★★★★★
A beautiful, cozy and view worthy place to stay in Exmouth, Devon. Auroile (at the reception, from Ukraine) is a wonderful lady who'll go that extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one.
This place has excellent rooms, a nice bar and a restaurant serving top class English breakfast. This place has a lift so you don't need to worry about taking the stairs should you stay in the 2nd/3rd floor.
The family room we stayed in had an amazing view of Exmouth beach. Located at a walkable distance from the beach and town hall, this place has all the things checked if you're travelling with family.
We had an amazing two nights stay here and would always recommend our friends to stay in here if on Exmouth.

We booked last minute. The room was a good price but was small but suited us since it had everything we needed for one night's stay and was very clean. The breakfast was included and was very good with choice of cereals and full English. The staff were lovely and I suspect they would produce any variation. I understand the more expensive sea view rooms are a better size. The quaint 2/3 person lift was cute. Their garden across road would be lovely in the summer with views across the beach and sea. A few minutes to the coast road there is surprisingly good food in the pub/bowling alley. There is also a Budgens supermarket next door.

My wife & I have just returned from a four night stay at the Ashton Court Hotel & was very pleasantly surprised how good this hotel was.
A lovely clean hotel which has had quite a lot of refurbishment work carried out by the new owners recently. Our room on the second floor (Room 202} was very good, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water with everything how it should be. High speed free wifi & a passenger lift to all floors.
Our breakfast & three course evening dinner was excellent served by the very pleasant waitress Emily. Always polite & very helpfull.
A wide choice of food options was available every day catering well for customers with varied dietary requirements.
